1. When I enrol at the academy, do I have to pay for the whole course upfront?

No, each student can choose the number of months that they were like to take at the academy. Students taking a standard course must pay a minimum of a month’s worth of lessons upfront but can choose between different pay options as well. It is possible to pay for your course in different packets: either once a month, once every three months, or once every six months, with the bigger packages offering a discount. For Academia Babilum´s summer courses, students must pay for a minimum of two weeks worth of lessons upfront, or may opt to buy a month´s package for a discount.

2. How do I know which course is best for me?

In the academy, we assess every new student with a short language test. This test is a fast way of creating an accurate result of your language ability, as well as which class is best for you. To take this test, you don’t need to make an appointment, just pop along to the academy – it shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes!

3. Do I have to sign up for classes by a certain date?

No, we have multiple classes that run at different start dates. All we need you to do is to come in and take a quick language test, so we can establish which class is best for you. Once we have assessed your level, we will check whether there is space to accommodate you in the appropriate class .

4. When I pay for multiple months upfront, can I choose which months I come?

If you purchase either the 3-month or 6-month package, you are committed to attending the academy in the consecutive months from the purchase date. However, should your 3-month or 6-month package run into the months of July, August or September, you may opt out of the academy and resume your classes in October when standard classes begin once more.

5. Do course prices vary between each month?

Class prices are identical for all months (October-June). Whilst some months may include holiday breaks (such as in December for Christmas), these hours are compensated throughout the rest of the course. By the end of the academic year, students have received an average of 12 hours of learning every month if they had taken a standard course, and 30 hours of learning every month should they have taken the intensive course.

6. If I don’t wish to continue my course, can I receive any compensation of money?

Academia Babilum will compensate its customers if the reason for leaving is accredited to the school, such as the cancellation or suspension of any course. However, if the reason is not related to the academy, the student possesses no rights to claim any reimbursement.

7. Can I make up any lessons that I may have missed?

Yes, you can make up any hours you may have missed by attending a different group of your course. If you talk to reception, you will be made aware of any classes you can attend. Please note: you are only able to recover the classes during the months that you have paid for and may not carry them over afterwards.

8. If I am taking one-to-one classes and I cannot attend, what should I do?

One-to-one classes can be changed or cancelled to accommodate your schedule as long as you provide at least 24 hours of notice. If 24 hours of notice is not given, the class will be counted as part of your course and the student will still be charged.

9. Once I have started my course, am I able to change my course?

Yes, you are able to move to a different level or to a different time once your course has started. Just ask at reception and they will help you choose your preferred option.

10. What learning materials do the teachers use?

Teachers do not use the same teaching material; each class is personalised to cater to the needs of their group and the curriculum. Normally, teachers will use a textbook to form a base for the course and then the teacher will create extra material surrounding these topics. Once we know which course you would like to enrol in, we can give you more detailed information about the learning material.
